Language Attitudes and Educational Outcomes, a new project with my awesome colleague Patti Bills, looks at the language perceptions of pre-service teachers, their views on non-mainstream varieties of American English, and how these may affect student success.

2005-2006

The Northern Cities Shift in Southwest Michigan:
WMU College of Arts and Sciences Undergraduate Research Award, funding a collaborative project with Western Michigan University undergraduate students and prinicipal investigators Brooke Pearson and Kevin Kane.

Dialect and Dichotomy: Literary Representations of African American Speech, University of Alabama Press. It's my first book! (2006 Choice Outstanding Academic Title :-)
